Data usage on the iPhone

Posted on July 12th, 2008 in General by Ross Wynne

According to O2 Ireland, the most they can ever see an Irish O2 customer use in terms of data usage is 1GB per month. To me this is quite a small amount given the entire point of the iPhone 3G is the revolutionary internet features.

To this end I intend to post the amount of data I use in a month.

In the first 24 hours cellular data usage I’ve managed to clock up:

33.3MB Download

and

2.6MB Upload.

In both work and home I have internet wireless points so this should reduce my daily amount of data usage quite significantly.

I’ll post again in a few days and update how I’m getting on…

I got my iPhone 3G

Woo hoo!

The Carphone Warehouse on Henry Street had a few on general sale and I was able to get my 16GB iPhone!

Seemingly the O2 Store on Henry St only had 11 8GB iPhones this morning… Fairly surprising!

Not blogging for long… Got to go play! :)

Limited numbers of iPhones in Ireland

I’ve just received a call from the Henry St O2 shop saying that there won’t be enough iPhones in stock tomorrow for my pre-order to be fulfilled.

This is strange since I was informed that I was ‘maybe the second person’ to pre-order the 16GB iPhone in that store. I don’t doubt the sincerity of the guy who rang me, I’m just annoyed that I’ll have to wait several more weeks for mine even though I pre-ordered on July 2nd.

Anyone else get a call too?
